Body Imaging

Body imaging is a sub-specialized field of diagnostic radiology and is focused primarily on the abdomen, reproductive, and gastrointestinal areas.

Body imaging specialists have received comprehensive training in x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), ultrasound, and mammography.

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy shows a continuous x-ray image on a monitor, much like an x-ray movie. It is used to diagnose patients by displaying moving images of how a body functions. Fluoroscopy uses a dye or other contrast agent combined with an x-ray beam to capture motion.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Computerized tomography (CT) is a noninvasive diagnostic test. It combines x-rays with computer technology to create accurate, detailed diagnostic images of your body. A CT test is fast and produces a series of high resolutions x-rays taken from multiple angles. In addition to its use as a diagnostic test, CT also assists in surgical planning by providing three-dimensional representations of the surgical area.

MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging of the breast, heart, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and blood vessels. MRIs are performed by experienced MRI technologists and interpreted by subspecialty-trained radiology physicians. MRI does not expose patients to radiation and is safe for patients with allergies to x-ray dyes or moderately impaired kidney function.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sounds waves to produce accurate, moving images. Our highly advanced ultrasound imaging tools include color Doppler, cine imaging, and electronic network capabilities.

Mammography

A mammogram is the best screening tool available to protect breast health. It uses a safe, low-dose x-ray that can detect changes in the breast long before any abnormalities can be felt. Breast cancer treatment is most effective when tumors are found early, so mammograms play a key role in monitoring breast health. BayCare Clinic was the first in the region to offer digital mammograms, providing our patients with faster, more accurate results.
