Dr. Ashwani Bhatia, chief medical officer with BayCare Clinic, was interviewed by Achal Bassamboo, a professor of decision sciences and operations at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, about COVID-19 vaccine distribution at the local level and from a national perspective.
The interview appears in Kellogg Insight, the school’s research and ideas magazine.
Asked how BayCare Clinic chose facilities used for vaccination, Bhatia says “We were starting in December in Wisconsin, so we needed a very large indoor place. We have a sports center adjoining our hospital, so we used that.”
Asked how BayCare Clinic has bridged a communications gap with vaccine messaging, Bhatia says: “I did a Facebook Live on vaccination. I went through the history of vaccination, how it came about and why this vaccine is different. It’s safe. We just talked about how it’s one of the greatest things to happen to science. And then I started taking questions individually, from the Facebook Live viewers.”
