“We’re really just encouraging people not to neglect their health, especially if you have issues come up that are urgent or emergent,” says Dr. Ryan Murphy, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic.
Murphy was interviewed for an NBC 26 story on efforts to assure patients and their families of safety measures in place to protect them from COVID-19 infection during clinic and hospital visits.
“We’ve seen patients who were too scared to come in despite having a stroke, so now they have a permanent disability,” he said. “We’ve seen people with chest pain wait too long and what maybe could have been fixed, now turns into a massive heart attack.”
