Dr. Robert Sonnenburg, an otolaryngologist with BayCare Clinic Ear, Nose & Throat, will host a community education event on Inspire therapy: A new alternative treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, on Wednesday, September 25, at Aurora BayCare Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center, 1160 Kepler Drive in Green Bay.
The free event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Center’s Performance Enhancement Room. Light refreshments will be provided.
Obstructive sleep apnea affects nearly 22 million Americans. Left untreated, it can have devastating effects on heart and brain health and have a lasting impact on a person’s quality of life. Inspire therapy provides a new outpatient treatment option for sleep apnea patients unable to use CPAP.
Studies have shown patients using Inspire therapy have significant and sustained reductions in sleep apnea episodes, increased activity levels, reduced daytime sleepiness and a significant decrease in snoring. Additionally, if a patient meets the criteria for Inspire therapy, most insurances will provide coverage for the device.
Dr. Sonnenburg is board-certified in sleep medicine and otolaryngology by The American Board of Otolaryngology. He is the first provider in the region to offer Inspire therapy.
