Scholarships awarded to two NWTC students
Two students from the emergency medical services program at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College been awarded scholarships from Aurora BayCare Medical Center and the BayCare Clinic Foundation.
NWTC students Gabrielle Taylor and Riley Simons each received $1,000 grants in support of their work toward becoming emergency medical technicians.
The awards were issued in collaboration with Drs. Christopher Sorrells, Michael Medich and Joseph Hodgson, retired emergency medicine physicians with BayCare Clinic.
EMTs care for patients at the scene of an emergency and during transport to a hospital. They are skilled in assessing a patient’s condition and can manage respiratory, cardiac and trauma emergencies.
NWTC is a certified training center for emergency medical technician and paramedic education and is a regional training center for the American Heart Association.
